LAHORE: The weather is very hot in Punjab. Because of this, the Punjab government has changed the timings for public and private colleges. The new timings will start on May 21 (Tuesday) and end on May 31.
The Higher Education Department (HED) announced this change on Monday. They said the decision was because of the “severe hot weather.”
The new college timings are:
- Monday to Thursday and Saturday: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
- Friday: 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM
- Monday to Saturday (evening second shift): 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
School Holidays and Timings Change
Earlier today, the Punjab government announced that schools would have seven more days of holidays because of the very hot weather.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar announced the holidays on X (formerly Twitter). He said that all public and private schools will be closed from May 25 to May 31.
He said they made this decision after listening to parents and seeing how hot the weather is. He also said that private schools having exams can stay open because it is important to keep students safe from the heat.
Summer Vacations
On May 17, the Punjab government announced the annual summer vacations for all schools in the province. The summer holidays will be from June 1 to August 14.
The government also reduced school timings because of the hot weather. The new school timings are:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM
